Description

In the golden city of Cairo, Egypt, stands one of the oldest and most respected mosques in the world — Masjid Al-Azhar. It is not just a place of
prayer, but a house of knowledge, light, and Islamic learning.
Al-Azhar was built over 1,000 years ago, and it quickly became a centre of education for Muslims everywhere. Students from all around the world come here to study the Qur’an, Arabic, and the beautiful teachings of Islam. Many of our great scholars taught at Al-Azhar. They filled its halls with wisdom, du’a, and love for Allah. Even today, people still travel to this special mosque to become students of the deen.
This mosque is known for its beautiful domes and tall, elegant minarets — each one different, yet standing together like a family of towers. The walls of Al-Azhar have heard centuries of Qur’an recitation, soft whispers of prayer, and the curious questions of students seeking truth. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.” ( Muslim)
Today, when you colour your Sejadah, know that Al-Azhar is more than just a building. It is a reminder that seeking knowledge is an act of worship, and that every little Mu’min has the potential to become a person of light.
