Just outside the city of Madinah stands a very special mosque — Masjid Quba. It was the first mosque ever built in Islam. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) migrated from Makkah to Madinah, he stopped in a small village called Quba. There, with his companions, he built a mosque with his own hands. He helped lay its stones, smiling and working alongside everyone. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“Whoever makes wudu at home, then goes to Masjid Quba and prays there, will have a reward like that of Umrah.”(Ibn Majah)
Masjid Quba has white walls and tall minarets, and it shines with peace and blessings. It reminds us that the first thing the Prophet built in his new home was a place to pray. Every time the Prophet (peace be upon him) visited Quba, he would stop and pray in this mosque. He loved it dearly — and we do too.
As you colour your Sejadah, think of Masjid Quba — simple, pure, and full of barakah. May your prayer always begin with love, just like it did there.
